About Us

It is time for Indianapolis to be recognized as a center of creative and communications excellence. Together we have an opportunity to choose to have a vibrant, collegiate and professional community. Together we can help attract young and seasoned professionals, improve diversity, provide professional development, promote networking and recognize creative excellence.

Strong creative markets across the country have a common factor: an active community of professionals. Indianapolis is emerging as a tier one city. If we are to take our rightful place as a strong advertising community, we must support and promote our members and bring recognition to the great work being done in our market.

This is a time of change. We are changing our name. We are returning to the Addy Awards, the largest and most recognized advertised competition in America. We are inclusive and are reaching out to professionals across the arts and sciences of advertising and to those who seek to enhance their professional skills. We understand quality, professional development programming and are creating meaningful opportunities for networking.

We were founded as the second advertising club in the United States 107 years ago. We have a proud heritage and a bright future. Your involvement and participation to help us realize that future is needed.

History

AAF Indianapolis was founded in 1907 as the second advertising club in the United States. Our archives are maintained at Butler University in Indianapolis and include having founded the Better Business Bureau of the United States and writing the first national standards for advertising ethics.

Norm Wilkins, president of the board of the Indianapolis AdClub in 1979, currently chairs the Council of Presidents of the Indianapolis Ad Club and AAF Indianapolis. These individuals help retain our history and hold us to the highest standards. A complete history of the Indianapolis Ad Club and AAF Indianapolis is currently being prepared and will be added to this site.
